DIVISION I: Foundations of Communication
Students should be able to:
1. Generate ideas for writing and speaking
2. Organize ideas logically
3. Use correct and effective grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation
4. Rehearse, critique and revise oral presentations.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of ENG 1060 ENG 1075 or ESL 2520; or satisfactory score on placement test.

This course is a one-semester introduction to informal argument. Topics addressed include deductive and inductive reasoning; what distinguishes good from bad arguments; common mistakes in reasoning; and the use of language, definition, and explanation.
