I enrolled myself in American Sign Language for my language of choice while I attended OCC. This class was very intriguing to me as my sister Alyssa minored in it at CMU and would use it around our house as practice. This class offered me the chance to see what it is like to live life without being able to hear, and believe it or not, my professor was deaf; this made class very interesting and provided me with a REAL LIFE learning experience. Throughout the class, both first and second semester, I attended a number of events where the deaf community was the main focus. There was a gathering at a Starbucks were a game night was held, and another at a local lounge where a comedy night was help. I was able to showcase what I knew at these events and communicate somewhat effectively with deaf people. for my final project I was asked to stand up infant of my class and tell a ten minuet life story. I am sorry to say but I no longer have my script or any other paperwork from that class.
